2014 Wilberforce Commencement Ceremony

The Wilberforce University Board of Trustees, along with the Acting President Dr. Wilma Mishoe, Faculty and Staff proudly announce the Graduating Class of 2014. Commencement events will be held on campus in the Alumni Multiplex building, Saturday, May 3, 2014.



The Baccalaureate Service will begin at 10:30 a.m. with Bishop Reginald T. Jackson as the speaker. On July 2, 2012 at the Quadrennial Session of the General Conference, The Right Reverend Reginald T. Jackson was elected, and on July 4th consecrated the 132nd Bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. He was assigned to the Twentieth Episcopal District (Malawi and Zimbabwe) and as the Ecumenical and Urban Affairs Officer and Chair of the Social Action Commission. In addition to his pastoral responsibilities, he served from 2000 to 2012 as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Essex County College and Board of Trustees of the Barnabas Health System, the largest health system in the state. He has consistently been named one of the "Twenty Five Most Influential People in New Jersey."

Commencement Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. as the speaker. Rev. Jesse Jackson is the founder and president of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, and is one of America's foremost civil rights, religious and political figures. Reverend Jackson has been called the "Conscience of the Nation" and "the Great Unifier," challenging America to be inclusive and to establish just and humane priorities for the benefit of all. He is known for bringing people together on common ground across lines of race, culture, class, gender and belief. A hallmark of Rev. Jackson’s work has been his commitment to youth. He has visited thousands of high schools, colleges, universities and correctional facilities encouraging excellence, inspiring hope and challenging young people to study diligently and stay drug-free.

The public is invited and welcomed to attend both events.
